Graz, Austria
Graz is the capital of the southeastern Austrian province of Styria and has a world-heritage listed old town with many notable buildings including its famous clock tower and castle. Graz was home to many notable physicists, including Johannes Kepler (who taught mathematics there for 6 years), Nikola Tesla (who studied at the Polytechnic of Graz), Ludwig Boltzmann (professor and chair of experimental physics at the University of Graz) and Erwin Schroedinger (as chancellor of the University of Graz). The train from Wien to Graz passes over the scenic Semmering Railway, a 41-km section of railway track passing through 14 tunnels and 16 viaducts, world-heritage listed itself as what is considered to be the first mountain railway in the world.
