This is a glimpse of a one-day trip to the major geological sights in southwestern Iceland, including an active geyser, a long-extinct volcanic crater, the Thingvellir fissure zone of the Mid-Atlantic ridge, and the two-tiered waterfall Gullfoss. This was done by rental car, as public transportation outside the city of Reykjavik is sparse. However, the endless natural secrets of Iceland lie outside the city and Iceland is an absolute must-see for any geology fans. (Beware of the high prices of just about everything, though!)
